MINERA, a parish in the hundred of Bromfield, county of Denbigh, union, county-court district, rural deanary and archdeaconry of Wrexham, diocese of St.Asaph, is 5 miles west-north-west from Wrexham and 2 west from Plas Power railway station. Lead mining and lime burning are carried out extensively. The church of St.Mary is a cruciform structure, and provides sittings for 385 persons; the cast window is filled with stained glass and is a memorial to John Burton of Minera Hall; the north transept contains a memorial window to Alexander Reid of Llantysilio. The living is a vicarage, yearly income £297, with residence, in the gift of the vicar of Wrexham, and held since 1890 by the Rev. Thomas Henry Williams of St.Bees. There are chapels for Calvinistic and Wesleyan methodists.
The area comprises 1,393 acres, of which 6 are water; the population in 1891 was 1,566.
